To escape from the dreadful NYC winter, we took a trip down to Tulum, Mexico. Just two hours south of the popular resort mecca of Cancun, Tulum offers a refreshing change from other 5-star, cookie-cutter hotels of Yucatan Peninsula. Instead, you will find a perfect harmony of authentic Mexico and the amenities of a luxe paradise.

After you pass through the touristy parts of Downtown Tulum, you turn off the road that leads you straight to the coastal town with its stark contrast of white sand beaches on the left, and rich jungle on the right. There you will find taco trucks dishing out the freshest fish tacos just steps away from ultra-swanky New York-style restaurants, serving quinoa and fresh pressed juice.

Oh you thought it couldn’t get better? Wait. Hotels in Tulum aren’t called “hotels” instead they go by the accurate name of “eco-hotels” because many of them are powered by solar panels. The beaches are dotted with the couples basking under cabanas and sipping from young coconuts so fresh you know they were picked that day.Image may be NSFW.

The trip wouldn’t be complete without an array of mirrored frames to compliment the bright colors of Tulum, by far one of the most special places we’ve been.
